The Process

Pen, coffee, napkin on wooden table. Written on napkin: A goal without a plan is just a wish.Financial planning is not about getting rich, or finding the greatest investment, or the cheapest insurance, or the newest trust, or any of the latest luncheon or dinner pitches being presented daily. Its about arranging your financial affairs in a way that brings life to your visions and dreams. It is a goal oriented, holistic approach to wealth management. The process of financial planning is a way of managing your money that is centered around you, where you are today, what future needs you may face, what it will take to reach your goals and what you can do about it now.

The Financial Planning Process - six steps

  1. Establishing and defining the client-planner relationship
  2. Gathering client data, including goals
  3. Analyzing and evaluating your financial status
  4. Developing and presenting financial planning recommendations and/or alternatives
  5. Implementing the financial planning recommendations
  6. Monitoring the financial planning recommendations

Ultimately, a solid financial plan provides direction and meaning to your financial choices; seeing each decision as part of the whole. Life is filled with changes. With a well thought out plan, you can more easily adapt  to those changes and feel secure that your goals and dreams are on track.
